I want to start swimming but I’m a complete novice. What should I do?
We always recommend having a professional swim-instructor at your side to learn basic swimming skills. If you want to hit the ground running when going for swimming lessons, take a look at our preperation-courses. There you’ll find exercises that help you making fast progress in the water by learning basic skills already on dry land.
I can’t swim the recommended distances, what should I do?
Having problems going the distance is often related to inefficiencies in technique. If you’re having fun doing your trainings at shorter distances – go for it. However, we would recommend you have a close look at our technique tutorials or even booking a personal trainer for a few sessions to work on proper strokes and your breathing.

How do you calculate recommended heartrates?
We base our calculation on a somehow simplified version of the Karvonnen formula that’s widely used in sports-medicine. However: Nobody knows better than your doctor who has access to your cardio-vascular data and history. Ask your doc, all we can do is give estimates and typical recommendations that statistically should suit your profile.
